What is Bijaya Dashami?

  • This festival is one of the biggest festival for Hindus all over the world to bring family and friends together. It is a tiem to seek blessings from the goddess Durga for prosperity, health, and success.
  • In Nepal, Bijaya Dashami is the main day of Dashain - a 15 day harvest festival and the biggest holiday in the country.
  • The Tika ceremony is where elders apply a mixture of rice, yohurt, and vermillion (known as Tika) on the foreheads of younger relatives.
