We are led by a team consisting of four full-time and six part-time elected officers. Our permanent staff team works alongside them to ensure that you receive the support you’re looking for from Your Students' Union.
How does the Union work?
The Union is governed by the Board of Trustees, comprising Officer, Student and External Trustees. Our Chief Executive and staff work alongside the Officer Trustees and other Elected Officers to run the Union.
Our purpose is centred around our five key principles that shape how we work for you: Passionate, Integrity, Empowering, Success and Inclusive.

National Union of Students (NUS)
Membership: £24,723 plus £6180.75 NUS Charity membership (2024/2025)
VONNE (Voluntary Organisations Network North East)
Membership: £95 (2024/2025)
Advice UK
Advice UK is a registered charity supporting the UK’s largest network of independent advice services.
Membership: £305 per year, plus £900.90 for the Pro Management System (2024/2025)
WONKHE
Wonkhe is the home of higher education policy, bringing the sector together through expert analysis.
Membership for 2023/24: £4,100 (2024/2025)

Membership for the Tyne and Wear chapter of Citizens UK
