Start Your Society

Can't see the Society you're looking for? You can set up your own in a few simple steps!

Starting your own society is a great way to build your own community and help like-minded students get together at the University. You'll also gain lots of transferable skills that sound great to employers and make friends for life along the way!

3 simple steps to set up a new society

  1. Find a couple of students to help you run the Society and complete the New Societies Declaration Form - every Society requires at least a President (responsible for leading the society) and a Treasurer (responsible for society finances) on the committee.
  2. Your SU decides on Society approval.
  3. Meet with Anna (Societies Coordinator) to find out how Your SU can support you and complete Your Societies Registration Form!

Academic Societies

Academic, or course-based, societies are student-led groups which are aligned with a particular course or faculty at the University! You can set up an Academic Society for your course in exactly the same way as any other society and we'd encourage you to speak to your tutors and lecturers about ways to promote your society and share ideas.
