Hi everyone,
Welcome to my first blog on the academic year, where I'll be sharing more about what I've been up to in October and the priorities I'll be focusing on.
President: Wellbeing Babatunde Jimoh
This October has been a vibrant and impactful month for my campaign, with activities focused on mental health advocacy, student representation, welfare, and cultural celebrations. It began with World Mental Health Day, coordinating with societies, including Video Game Society and other teams from across the SU and University, to organise a memorable event on 10th October. We arranged for key visitors, such as NHS representatives, smoking cessation services, and Health Watch, along with engaging crafts for students. This event brought together over 45 students, offering not only fun activities but also essential information on wellbeing services, while creating a space for relaxation and connection.
Additionally, I was thrilled to join the Nigerian Student Society on 1st October for their Independence Day celebration, fostering inclusivity and honouring cultural heritage. Engaging with the society was an inspiring start, allowing me to celebrate diversity within our university community.
Black History Month events also held a special place in my schedule, as I supported Prince, President: Activities in organising panels, discussions, and a party celebration at St. Peter's Campus. With over 100 students attending, it was a remarkable gathering that celebrated cultural richness through art, discussion, and music.
