Events and Celebrations

Black History Month Celebration: BHM has been vibrant, engaging and impactful this year, with events focusing on the significance of Black History and their culture. Highlights included:

• Crafternoons: We hosted Crafternoon activities, where students expressed their creativity through arts and crafts.
• Discussion Panel and Keynote Lecture: Thought-provoking conversations emerged as students, alumni and university staff panellists discussed narratives of immigration, adaptation and what it means to be a black student in the UK today. The keynote lecture was centered on historical insights and today’s struggles, empowering students to embrace their identities and remain resilient.

Nigerian Independence Day Celebration: In early October, we marked Nigerian Independence Day with a fantastic celebration that brought together students from Nigeria and friends across university communities. We shared stories, traditional music, dance and food, which created a meaningful cultural exchange that brought students closer as a community.
