Your SU is pleased to confirm that the University will be introducing a new, more flexible instalment plan option that will help students with the payment of tuition fees, beginning in September 2024.
Over the past year, I have been campaigning for greater flexibility to the payment options available to students. This process included a petition calling for the University to review its approach and implement changes in this area, which was signed by over 1000 students. It is highly encouraging to learn that the University’s proposal for the upcoming changes cited this petition and associated student feedback as a key factor in bringing about this increased flexibility.

The instalment plan option will be brought in for new students arriving at the University for the academic year 2024/25. This is a significant development that will greatly benefit our students of the future by helping to ease the burden of the increased cost of living and, in the case of some international students, currency pressures. It is important to note that the changes will only apply to new student intakes from September 2024 onwards.
We would like to thank the University’s Credit Control and Finance teams for their cooperation and engagement with the Students’ Union throughout this campaign. We are grateful that they have listened to student feedback, taken on board concerns and suggestions, and incorporated these into discussions and decisions around the University’s approach.
