Wow! Can’t believe I haven’t sent out one of these since last year! Haha, missed you all! Welcome back to Campus for the familiar faces, and a big welcome to the newcomers and first-time readers to this President: London blog.

Inductions Week

January was a blast, filled with inductions where we welcomed new students with goodie bags and indulged in induction lunches all week! Hope your New Year's resolution didn't involve dieting because let's be real, who can resist pizza, sandwiches, and drinks?

As part of Inductions Week, we also hosted the Welcome Fair. There were lots of freebies on offer and our campus support services shared valuable information. Your SU had a table showcasing our fantastic societies and what we're all about. It was great to meet so many of you!

We ended the week with some craft sessions. The lovely team from Wellbeing joined in to cut and paste their resolutions for this year. It was lovely creating memories with those who came and if you missed out on all the fun, be sure to look out for more craft sessions in the future.

Give It A Go Week

Following our January ‘24 Inductions, we hosted our inaugural Give it a Go Week at the University of Sunderland in London Campus. This programme allowed both new and returning students to explore the diverse opportunities, activities, and events offered by Your SU.

The week kicked off with a lively Games Tournament, featuring mini tournaments of various games such as Pool, Table Football, Giant Jenga, and more. The 'Volunteer with Your SU' workshop provided students with insights into volunteering, including experiences shared by Course Reps. Opportunities to sign up for volunteering roles like Course Reps, SU Buddies, and Community Events were offered. Volunteers engaged in activities such as 'packing for Your SU' and creating recipe cards for a student cookbook.

Midweek marked International Day of Education, with students and staff celebrating education through art, craft activities, and sharing their educational journeys. The week continued with a Student Leadership at Your SU Skills Mapping Workshop, where students explored opportunities in student leadership by identifying skills mapping. Keynotes from Student Leaders provided valuable insights, and students created personal development plans. The week concluded with a 'Start a Society' Workshop, inviting students to learn about joining or starting societies.

Now that’s what I call a packed month!!

Looking forward to February

Now, for those who missed out, fear not! February is shaping up to be just as fun! Graduations kick off the month (congratulations to all the soon-to-be graduates!), followed by Chinese New Year, Pancake Day, and a focus on Sexual Health and positive relationships (Valentine’s Day event) - all in the same week!

Remember, Your Elections Nominations are currently open, and you can put yourself forward to be one of Your SU’s next leaders! There are paid full-time and voluntary positions available. Find out more and nominate yourself here. But hurry – Nominations close on Sunday 18th February!

We're wrapping up the month with a visit to the Science Museum with yours truly, so be sure to sign up so we can all go see science-y stuff.
