Getting Started

Here’s what you need to do to get your society up and running:

  1. Complete the Societies Registration Form
  2. Society Training – complete online Society Training or book an in-person session. This is compulsory for the President and Treasurer, but we recommend it for the whole committee. The Treasurer should also complete the Treasurer and Finance Training - complete the Treasurer and Finance Training.
  3. Complete a Master Risk Assessment (see Resources below), which covers your regular day-to-day society activities
  4. Book a catch up with the team to find out more details and put a plan in place - just email yoursocieties@sunderland.ac.uk

Excellent! Now you’re well on your way to getting your society set up, why not check out more resources below?

Society Recognition Scheme

Complete tasks to earn points! Points tally up to get you cash rewards for your society, straight into your grant account (usual grant spend guidelines apply).

Check out the full list of tasks under the 'Resources' tab on this page and record your points and evidence using the link below.

Levels must be completed in order: Bronze > Silver > Gold and reset every year. For example, if you achieve Silver Recognition in the 2023/24 academic year, this will reset for the 2024/25 committee. Tasks only count towards points once (e.g. if your society raises £100 for charity more than once, you will only receive 25 points once!)

BRONZE 100 points = £50

SILVER 250 points = £75

GOLD 500 points = £150

Your society will also be presented with a certificate at the SU Awards at the end of the academic year!
