I am writing to express a growing concern among those of us that are looking towards our graduation regarding the location of our graduation ceremony. It has come to our attention that the current venue fails to meet the expectations and significance of such an important milestone in our academic careers.

Many students, including myself, feel that the current location inside of a room at the Stadium of Light lacks the necessary ambiance and aesthetic appeal befitting a graduation ceremony. Parents and families of students come from afar to witness an extremely special milestone. The venue’s mundane and uninspiring environment does not reflect the celebratory and prestigious nature of this event. Graduating from university is a significant achievement, and the setting should amplify the sense of accomplishment and pride for graduates, their families, and the faculty.

We propose considering an alternative venue that offers a more appropriate and dignified atmosphere for this momentous occasion. Locations such as Sunderland Minster would provide a more elegant and fitting backdrop for our graduation, since the winter graduating class is also alot smaller this would be an ideal location. These venues not only offer a visually appealing setting but also enhance the overall experience for all attendees. We understand that due to it being Winter an outdoor location such as that for the summer graduation is not feasible. We also urge the University to seek alternate venues for dinner.

We believe that relocating the ceremony to a more suitable venue will positively impact the event, leaving graduates and their families with lasting, fond memories. I kindly request that the administration consider this petition and engage with the student body to identify and secure a more appropriate location for our winter graduation, for this year's and the upcoming years graduating classes.
