By President: Activities - Prince Ikechi
Hello everyone!
As the new year began, January was a month of exciting opportunities, productive engagements, and promising developments for our student community. I’m thrilled to share updates on our collective efforts and the strides we’ve made over the past month. Here’s what I’ve been up to:
President: Activities Prince Ikechi at the Northern Voice Conference at the University of Hull
One of the key highlights this month was being part of the team tasked with shortlisting and interviewing candidates for the position of Student Communities Manager. It was inspiring to see the wealth of talent and passion in the candidates, all eager to contribute to making our student community stronger and more inclusive. This process reinforced my commitment to ensuring that we have the right support system in place for all students. We look forward to a new staff member joining our team soon.
I had the privilege of attending the Festival of Training for Sabbatical Officers, organised by the brilliant team at Coole Insight Ltd. The training sessions were incredibly insightful, equipping us with essential leadership skills and strategies to make our campaigns and initiatives more impactful. It was also a great chance to connect with sabbatical officers from other students’ unions and exchange ideas on tackling shared challenges.
As part of my interest in raising funds and creating awareness for an issue that affects 1 in 8 men in the UK during their lifetime, I took part in running 26.2 miles throughout the month of January, pushing my limits to support life-saving research, provide vital support to families, and help change the future of prostate cancer care. I invite everyone to be part of this campaign and support the course through donations, to fund breakthrough treatments and research for those in need.

Let’s make every mile to count as together we can go the distance to support men and their families. Thank you for your support!
As we move further into the year, I remain focused on advancing my campaigns and representing your voices on matters that impact our community. Whether it’s improving student accommodation, supporting our clubs and societies, or advocating for your rights, I’m committed to working tirelessly for you.
Thank you all for your continued engagement and support. As always, I’m here to listen, so don’t hesitate to reach out to me with your ideas, questions, or concerns. Let’s make 2025 a year to remember!
