Here for the Holidays - University Events and Support Over Winter Break

If you’re spending the winter break in Sunderland, the University’s ‘Here for the Holidays’ events, support and information are here for you.

We’re pleased to be working in partnership with multiple teams from the University on Here for the Holidays and we would encourage you to explore the events and support available over the winter break if you’re remaining in the city.

This article will cover some of the key information about Here for the Holidays, but there are far too many events, activities and resources from across the University to cover all of them here. Your central hub for all this information can be found at go.sunderland.ac.uk/here4hols.

Activities

CitySpace is your key location on campus over the winter break – turn up and play games, meet up with people, and enjoy food and drink in The Studio.

CitySpace is open:

  • Until 21 December – 7am-10pm, Monday-Friday (9am-8pm at weekends)
  • 22-23 December - 10am-4pm
  • 24-26 December - Closed
  • 27-30 December - 10am-4pm
  • 31 December - 1 January - Closed
  • 2-3 January - 10am-4pm

In addition to Your SU’s ongoing schedule of events continuing up until 15th December, there are multiple events happening across the University and across the city that you can attend throughout the winter break.

Wellbeing Support Over Winter

As the festive season unfolds, don't navigate the challenges alone. Remember your mental health is a gift to cherish and your Student Support team are here to offer you advice, support and guidance during this time.

You can contact the Wellbeing team for support over the holiday period by emailing wellbeing@sunderland.ac.uk and someone will reply to your email from the 22 December – 3 January (excluding 25 December and 1 January) between 11am-1pm to offer you support.

The Out of Hours Team are also available over the holiday period and can be contacted each day between 6.30pm–6.30am by calling 0191 515 2451 should you need to speak to someone outside of the Wellbeing Team Christmas hours. If on campus, the University Security Team can be reached on 0191 515 2028 (including out of normal hours).

The Wellbeing Team have also partnered with other organisations to support students across the year and during the holiday period, with a number of apps and resources. To find out more about these and all the support available, head to go.sunderland.ac.uk/here4hols.
