Hello from Wellbeing!
A significant focus during the month was the Race Equality Chapter certification, mandatory for Higher Education institutions in the UK. As President: Wellbeing, I had the privilege of participating in discussions. Deliberations on behalf of student interests in Equality and Diversity were undertaken, complemented by insightful training sessions.
Regarding my manifesto, I’m remaining focused addressing social stigma experienced by men in terms of mental health and cultural barriers faced by international students.

The Chair of the Board of Governors paid a visit to Your SU, which was very constructive and enjoyable. We held a Q and A session so that we can understand how we can best work with the University. The Chair of the Board offered valuable suggestions and expressed a commitment to championing initiatives aimed at advancing the objectives outlined in the third manifesto, specifically focusing on 'Increasing Diversity Within the University Support’, which was great and encouraging to hear.
Key meetings throughout the month included the Student Success Committee meeting, where senior staff deliberated on the progress and future trajectory of students and the university. Progress on Student Voice and Representation was presented, and I had the privilege of representing student interests. Additionally, the University Mental Health and Wellbeing Group meeting, directly related to Student Wellbeing, contributed to certifying the University of Sunderland as a Mental Health Chapter within UK Higher Education regulations. Extensive discussions and reports on Student Support, Wellbeing, and Mental Health operations for both students and staff took place.
