Being An Officer at Your SU - Time to Shine

Want to know what being an Officer at Your SU involves? Between now and the end of Your Elections Nominations (18th Feb), we're speaking to some of our past officers on our website and socials about the steps involved in the journey if you are elected and what they learnt along the way.

Now it's the turn of President: London 2021-23 Victoria, as she talks about the big moment where your inductions into the position are finished and it's your Time to Shine, by stepping into the role and doing it for real!

Time to Shine

Victoria said: "It’s a lot of skills development. Leadership skills, communication skills, time management, people management, building my confidence, being able to put myself out there. These are things that I learned and developed on the job and throughout my time as an Officer.

“I didn’t expect myself to develop as much as I did in such a relatively short space of time, and this has really shaped my skills, my career and what I want to do next.

Follow in Victoria's Footsteps

After her initial year-term as President: London, Victoria was re-elected for 2022/23 and served the maximum of two terms in the position. Reflecting on her full time as an Officer at Your SU and the impact it had on her, Victoria said: "It has influenced my personal life, the way I think, the way I see things, the way I managed people, the way I build my self-confidence and the way I have develop in all ways of my life. It's been such a positive experience that has set me up really well for the future."

If you'd like to follow in Victoria's footsteps as an Officer at Your SU, Your Elections Nominations are currently open! There are four paid full-time positions and six voluntary positions that you can do alongside your studies. Explore the roles available and nominate yourself here.
