Don't Be Shy, Say Hello

It’s time to pop your comfort bubble and put yourself out there. Start by introducing yourself to your roommates and course mates, and gradually grow your circle.

If you’ve got a hobby, sign up for societies that you find interesting and make pals with a common interest. There's no better or easier way to socialise than over a mutual love for something.

Don't forget to explore the Students’ Union, there's always a buzz from our events! Your new Uni friends can last much longer than just Freshers Week. They could be friends for life and might even offer career links in the future, so make any many pals as you can!

Feel Better

It’s important to regularly take steps to look after you mental and physical health to avoid burn out. There’s many simple self-care tips you can practise daily and keep you feeling your best.

Feel Fantastic, Get Active

No need to fret about pumping iron at the gym or sprinting a marathon (unless that's your thing). A casual stroll around campus or a quick yoga session can work magic on your mood. It's all about releasing those feel-good endorphins and getting fresh air outside the classroom walls.

Harnessing H2O

Water is your best friend for boosting energy levels and keeping your brain super sharp. Get into the habit of carrying a reusable water bottle. It’s easy to refill on-the-go and keep topped up throughout the day. There are also water fountains available in most University buildings – one of Your SU past wins!

Sleep for Success

Brain work is serious work, and you need your downtime. Aim to get at least seven hours of sleep every night and snooze in the day if you get the chance. Wind down properly before getting into bed to increase the likeliness of you falling asleep faster and for longer. Try out herbal teas, switching off screens, and reading a book until you feel sleepy. Commit to giving your brain the rest it needs and wake up feeling refreshed.

Cut Yourself Some Slack

It's ok not to have everything figured out. You're learning, growing, and that's what matters. Don’t beat yourself up over the bumps along the way and seek help if you’re ever struggling.
